UNWANTED INHERITANCE
Related to country: Nigeria

The plight of men
dread to the bereaved it bring
a dark bell to ring
instead of a song to sing

Causing pain-oh it always does
but return to dust we must
it hurts to utter goodbye
but lets face it, we're all passing by

Death seem unfair,
that we tag it red
it gives no appointment
even sting the anointed.

Determined to conquer the human race,
taking us to a whole new phase
but the refining process we fear
and so detest to bear.

AIDS withers a blossomed flower
render skies asunder,
a dark bell it rings
and a dirge we sing.

We are light and heavy
our tongues speak silence
we sweat with wrath.

You unhurried rising movement of doom
harbinger of gathering darkness
we borrow courage from sorrow,
and defeat
our unwanted gift.
